Rommie Amaro Honored As Woman of the Year Finalist by California State Assembly

UC San Diego Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Rommie Amaro, was honored as a finalist for the 78th District’s 2015 Woman of The Year (WOTY) by California State Assembly Speaker, Toni Atkins. The WOTY event, sponsored by the California Legislative Women's Caucus, celebrates outstanding women in California whose achievements and contributions have made a positive impact on their communities. Professor Amaro’s drug discovery research utilizing cutting-edge computational methods and her BioChemCoRe Outreach Program aimed at cultivating young women scientists were selection factors lauded by Speaker Atkins.
